報(bào)告題目:Group sparse optimization in systems biology

內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介:Inferring gene regulatory networks from gene expression data and identifying key factors for cell fate conversion are two arduous challenges in biology and regenerative medicine, especially in higher organisms (like human and mouse) where the number of genes is large but the number of experimental samples is small. In this talk, we will formulate these two systems biology problems into group sparse optimization problem by employing the special structure of the involved regulatory networks. The lower-order regularization method for group sparse optimization will be introduced in a unified framework. Theoretical guarantee of the lower-order regularization method is provided via the oracle property and recovery bound, and the numerical performance of the proximal gradient algorithm is presented via the linear convergence property. The applications of group sparse optimization will facilitate biologists to study the gene regulation of higher model organisms in a genome-wide scale.

報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介

胡耀華,深圳大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)與統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)院副教授(香港理工大學(xué)博士,師從楊曉琪教授),深圳市海外高層次人才,深圳市南山區(qū)“領(lǐng)航人才”。主要從事連續(xù)優(yōu)化理論與應(yīng)用研究,主持國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金3項(xiàng),省市級(jí)科研項(xiàng)目5項(xiàng)。在SIAM Journal on Optimization, Journal of Machine Learning Research, Inverse Problems, European Journal of Operational Research上發(fā)表多篇論文,參與開(kāi)發(fā)多個(gè)生物信息學(xué)工具包/網(wǎng)頁(yè)服務(wù)器。
