主題：Natural Language Processing for Text Analysis and Analogy with Image Analysis. A step towards Big Data Analysis
內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介：With the emergence of social media and online documentation together with many governmental Open access policies and smart cities initiatives, users are often overwhelmed by a massive amount of information that creates a lot of ambiguity and uncertainty. This calls for efficient tools and methodology in order to filter out unnecessary information and identify user's interest only. This talk reviews existing practices and challenges in text analysis and retrieval while building a bridge to other multimedia dataset like images and videos for illustration purpose. Issues related to data representation, indexing, query expansion, semantics, disambiguation and visualization will be emphasized and contrasted with their images or video counterparts. Finally, we will highlight some of our ongoing projects in text summarization, social media analysis, intelligence gathering and community analysis in both open domains and medical fields.

Mourad Oussalah (M’97) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Paris XII, Créteil, France, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He held a post-doctoral position with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Leuven, Belgium, and City University London, London, U.K. He has been with the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, U.K., since 2003, where he is currently an active Researcher. His research interests include data mining, computer vision, and information fusion. He has authored over 200 technical papers. He is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and an Executive Member of the IEEE SMS UK Chapter.
